Metal Words

Instructions:

• Due to the buggy Java Interpreter, the game looks extremely crappy in some versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer. If this is the case, upgrade to the latest version or use Netscape Navigator instead.
• Hit "Start" button to start a new game.
• The object of the game is to guess the hidden word(s) (represented by question marks) by pressing the letter buttons which represent letters that you think are in the hidden word.
• All the words are Heavy Metal/Hard Rock related. They can be musical terms, band names, album titles etc.
• If a guessed letter is in the word, every instance of that letter is revealed. When all letters are revealed, you win and prove that you are a true metalhead!
• If a guessed letter is not in the word, you lose a miss. The game is over if you miss again when the miss counter has reached zero.
• Press the start button again to start over with a new word.
• If a game is in progress (the word isn't guessed and you have misses left), pressing the start button twice resets the game with a new word.
• If the applet doesn't work, your browser is probably old and doesn't support Java 1.1.
• Because of Microsoft's ropey Java interpretor, the update of the hidden word looks really ugly in Internet Explorer. I may try to work around that some day, in the meantime you'll have to live with it (or get Netscape instead.)
